SAIL ROYAL GREENWICH TEAM UP WITH LOCAL GREENWICH COLLEGE

Sail Greenwich Ltd brings Shooters Hill Post 16 Campus on board for this summer’s maritime spectacular - ‘Sail Royal Greenwich 2012’. The event runs from 25^th of July to 12^th of August 2012 and incorporates corporate hospitality on a flotilla of 16 historical Tall Ships.

Hospitality and catering students will be involved with the delivery of the inaugural Sail Royal Greenwich. This is a once in a lifetime experience for many students and will provide a window of opportunity for them to work alongside internationally renowned Michelin chefs Richard Corrigan (UK) and Ron Blaauw (NL).  The students will be trained by and work together with the master chefs, helping to prepare delightful dishes – to served on board of the Tall Ships - such as Rillettes of Irish Salmon, Navarin of Lamb and Mousse of caramel, passion fruit, hazelnut and dill. Master classes start this week with the renowned chefs making an appearance at the school.

With a fleet capacity ranging from 20 to 140 per ship, Sail Royal Greenwich 2012 expects to cater for over 1,200 corporate clients. The Tall Ships are suitable for top level corporate hospitality and delicious dining offering a choice of tempting buffets or a gastronomically adventurous ‘Walking Dinner’.  Already, the students are familiar with sophisticated cooking standards at their City View Restaurant, as demonstrated by their month-long waiting lists for a table.

Furthermore, Sail Greenwich is also providing opportunities for students of the Travel and Tourism courses to be guides on the flotilla to offer corporate clients fun facts about the Thames and local landmarks.  Students will also attend workshops with a local tourist guide in order to learn about high level events and receive tuition on to how to be outgoing and confident in social situations - important attributes for job seeking.

Head teacher Mark Vincent of Shooters’ Hill Post 16 Campus said:
